Aquatec Maxcon are honoured to have Kingaroy Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) featured by the Netherlands Post on a set of six limited edition stamps that celebrates the relationship between the two countries and was released prior to the recent royal visit from the King and Queen of the Netherlands to Australia.

The series of stamps shows the role of the Netherlands in the discovery of Australia, alongside the emigration from the Netherlands to Australia and the exchange of knowledge between our countries.

The series includes other events such as the Amsterdam explorer Dirck Hartogh who set foot on Australian soil 400 years ago, to the 100,000th emigrant families on their way to Australia from Amsterdam in 1958, to the revolutionary Square Kilometre Array (SKA) radio telescope in Australia.

The stamps highlight the innovative Nereda® technology, developed by Royal HaskoningDHV, used in the Kingaroy WWTP for South Burnett Regional Council -  the first plant in Australia to make use of the sustainable Dutch technology.

IPWEA Queensland Awards

South Burnett Regional Council (SBRC) was awarded an Excellence Award for Kingaroy Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) at the Institute of Public Works Engineering Australasia (IPWEA) State Awards Evening on the 9th November. The category for this Excellence Award was for public works water projects over $10 million.

Nominated by SBRC, Australia's first Nereda® Plant utilises the world leading aerobic granular sludge technology to offer more efficient sewage treatment and improved treated water quality.

SBRC commissioned Aquatec Maxcon to upgrade the aging Kingaroy WWTP in late 2014. With additional funding received by Council from the Queensland Government under its “Royalty for the Regions” program, this critical infrastructure upgrade was completed on time and within budget.

Process commissioning was recently completed on schedule in October 2016 and the plant is exceeding expectations in meeting effluent quality in its preliminary operation.

Kingaroy WWTP was designed and constructed by Aquatec Maxcon to deliver more sustainable outcomes as it uses smaller structures and consumes fewer resources in construction, thereby decreasing the capital expenditure. It also requires less energy and chemicals during operation, reducing its operational and maintenance costs.

SBRC Water and Wastewater Manager, Nerida Airs, said the project was a “great asset for the community” and “everyone involved the projects should be very proud”.

This project was also a finalist in the Australian Water Association 2016 Infrastructure Project Innovation Award category.

Chinchilla Waste Water Treatment Plant Upgrade

Aquatec Maxcon is excited to announce that Chinchilla Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) completed the performance testing and is exceeded expectations in its 6months operation in meeting effluent quality and operating cost.

Chinchilla

Chinchilla WWTP has a capacity of 10,000EP and is the third plant built by Aquatec Maxcon for the Western Downs Regional Council. It utilises our innovative proprietary Hybrid BNR process that offers a lower construction cost and provides operational robustness and a high degree of process flexibility.

Aquatec Maxcon Group was responsible for the delivery of the entire project including Design, Project Management, Civil, Mechanical and Electricals Works.ree of process flexibility.

Originally designed to treat wastewater for a capacity of 1.64 million PE (population equivalent), the Ringsend Wastewater Treatment Plant is currently operating over capacity at 1.9 million PE. The Ringsend Wastewater Treatment Plant Upgrade Project is a vital upgrade for the community as the population of Ireland is in continuous growth therefore the economic needs of the area are expanding.

The Ringsend Wastewater Treatment Plant Upgrade Project is expected to be completed in early 2020.vital upgrade for the community as the population of Ireland is in continuous growth therefore the economic needs of the area are expanding.

Aquatec Maxcon is the exclusive Australian Partner for Nereda® Technology. Currently, Aquatec Maxcon is commissioning Kingaroy WWTP, the first Nereda® Plant in Australia.
