MicroTurbine Success

Aquatec Maxcon has been selected by Origin Energy to supply 114 qty Capstone MicroTurbines to provide power for its gas fields. Capstone is the world leader in MicroTurbine gas fuelled generators. These unique machines have only one moving part which operates on air bearings, totally eliminating oil based lubricants. This enables them to offer unequalled reliability, rendering them uniquely suited for operation in remote
locations.

Smiths Snackfood

Aquatec Maxcon has been selected by Smiths Snackfoods to design and construct a wastewater treatment and recycling facility for its Wynnum food processing plant. The plant will be upgraded to utilise Aquatec Maxcon's innovative internal circulation upflow anaerobic technology to reduce the load on the existing MBBR aerobic treatment plant enabling it to deliver improved product quality and will be further enhanced utilising ultrafiltration and reverse osmosis to produce high quality water.

Beverly Park Re-Use Award

The Beverly Park sewer mining and re-use facility constructed by Aquatec Maxcon for Kogarah Council in Sydney, was officially opened by the Mayor on 5th June, 2008. This facility provides advanced physical-chemical treatment of sewage recovered from a nearby sewer main, enabling it to be beneficially recycled on the Beverly Park Golf Course.

The project is a major part of the programme introduced by the Kogarah Council which has enabled them to achieve Sydney Water's highest 5-star rating, resulting in substantial water savings and environmental benefits.

BCAA Success Recognised

Alliance teams are selected by clients from the very best companies available in the market, so when Alliances are compared it is really determining 'The best of the best!'

The simmers of the annual Alliance Contracting Excellence (ACE) Awards were revealed at a gala dinner and awards night held at The Sheraton on the Park, Sydney. The awards, hosted by IQPC, are designed to recognise outstanding achievement in the field of Alliance Contracting across Australia and New Zealand, and are presented in front of an audience of industry thought-leaders and practitioners.

BCAA with its partner members including Brisbane Water, Caboolture Water, Aquatec Maxcon and MWH Australia, was very proud to have been selected as a finalist in the Major Project Division which includes the delivery of the premier infrastructure projects in the Australasia region.

The Major Capital Division was won by the Tullamarine-Calder Interchange Alliance while the outstanding efforts of the Brisbane Caboolture Aquifer Alliance Team was recognised by receiving an Honorable Mention, the highest award for any water project in Australasia.

As this is Aquatec Maxcon's first Alliance where it has been the Principal Constructor and is by far the largest project where it has acted in this role, this outcome is even more welcome. It clearly demonstrates the ongoing development of the company which can clearly hold its own with the leaders in the water industry and construction industry generally.

Aquifer Plants Operational

On 9th December 2007, Brisbane's Lord Mayor Campbell Newman officially opened the Forest Lake Water Treatment Plant as part of the regional drought relief strategy. Collectively, these 5 (Sunnybank, Runcorn, Algester, Chandler & Forest Lake) plants provide an additional 20Ml/d of high quality potable water into the network. Despite the very challenging programme, all plants to be delivered for Brisbane have been
commissioned well ahead of the Target Date of 31st December 2007, a clear demonstration of the commitment and excellent performance of the BCAA Alliance Team.
